The database runs inside your application. Reads, writes, validation and queries all resolve locally, so nothing in your interface waits on a network — and when a remote is reachable, the whole database replicates to it safely: filtered, and with encrypted attributes still ciphertext on the wire.
Schemas, triggers and background jobs are documents that sit alongside your data. A trigger is stored on its class, replicates with it and can be rewritten at runtime; a schema change ships as a versioned patch that every device applies for itself, once, in order, and all or nothing.
- 0.43ms per document, staged A hundred documents staged in 43 ms, with zero backend queries. Docs
- 46ms 100 documents, no transaction Inside a transaction the same batch commits in 43 ms — no slower, and discardable until it lands. Docs
- 24ms to unlock an access scope Flat, whatever the policy's complexity. Docs

SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY and subqueries run against the browser's own storage, with index pushdown and scans that stop early. Triggers run on the write path, so the rules live with the data rather than in whichever component happened to save it.

Model changes ship as versioned patches: a patch states only what it changes, carries seed data and one-shot migration jobs, and a chain that fails names the patch, class and attribute at fault, leaving nothing behind. A trigger needs no patch at all — it lives on its class, replicates with the data and can be rewritten at runtime.

03 Encryption: AES-GCM and CP-ABE
Marked attributes are AES-GCM ciphertext before they reach storage or a remote. Class-level scopes go further: a CP-ABE policy over session attributes decides who can decrypt at all.

Replicate to a CouchDB endpoint, another DocStack node, or a folder in the user's own Google Drive. No server to run, no storage to pay for, and no custody of anyone's data.
The client now has a real database — one you can model, act on, and sync.
